N Scale Track Plans
Once you have decided on building a model train railroad in your home, the next question is which scale train set are you going to use. The scale size is determined by the width of the rails in the train tracks. One of the smallest train tracks and most popular is the N scale track plans. There are many benefits to getting started with this style scale, here are just a few of the reasons this scale is becoming one most beginners enjoy.
The Ability to Grow
With the N scale track plans, you can get more track in a smaller area. That means even if you use one piece of plywood for the base of the layout, you can get much more track laid down than had you chosen a bigger scale. The larger scale layouts will only allow an oval shape to fit on that size piece wood, whereas the N scale track plans you can build several different shapes without running out of room. The smaller the tracks, the more tight you can make those turns and twists within the landscape. That way you can run your train in the mountains, under a bridge, and around the city to give it a much more realistic look.
Expanding as You Grow
Unlike larger scale sets, once you complete the layout, you have little room to expand because you run out of space in the house quickly. With the n scale track plans, you have the ability to add-on to your existing plan and continue to add new layouts to areas you like. if you find the farm scene is really something you enjoy, you can expand on the farm with more animals, more fields, trees, and rivers, because you are not growing the overall size of the layout that quickly.
